Artists Ltd is a UK Company based in Yorkshire. The founders of the company all have a background in the arts either as practitioners or suppliers. We started the company to provide a comprehensive UK based Internet presence which would facilitate the development of an artistic community.
Finance for the project was provided by the shareholder / directors with no external funding or grants from any public body we therefore enjoy complete editorial freedom to develop the site as the requirement of the community demands.
This route was decided upon at the very early stages of project conception as being preferable to what has become the more traditional approach of going cap in hand to the Arts Council looking for a hand out. Whilst we between ourselves have argued around countless points we have always been steadfastly in “heated agreement” that whilst grants and awards come in very handy sometimes, as a focal point for realizing an artistic ambition they are more of a time consuming distraction than an aid to achievement.
So, after much discussion and a considerable amount of work we are pleased to launch the 'fruits of our labors' and hope that it will service the community we set out to serve.
The list of developments we have planned for the site is substantial and we will be regularly adding new functions and facilities. We are also actively seeking contributions from all spectrums of the arts and would welcome your input and comments.
