Artist:  Harvey Steve Parker (Stego)

I studied Three Dimensional Design at both York College of Arts and Newcastle University and then set up my own business I call 'Agri-Sculpture' (taking discarded metal objects from farm machinery and turning them into organic forms).

I have really three main interests:

* Creative metal salvage, using recycled materials.

* Kinetic Sculpture, using wind, water, helium and light.

* Art and performance projects involving young people.

In and amongst my art I support myself by general agricultural work and I have an occasional stall at Masham Market selling my portable braziers and other art work.

I bring to my artistic endeavours a fairly broad skill base from drumming to stilt walking to welding, providing an imaginative mix of ideas!

Projects I have been involved with include 'The Carlton Lodge Van Plan Project' as junk sculpture artist and work with various Youth Organisations in North Yorkshire my latest project being with Ripon Grammar School where we have built a sculpture designed by one of the sixth form students.

'Beast o'North', Vultures, Dolphins, Cockerel, Veloceraptors and Butterflies are a few designs I have produced and some of these you can see in my gallery.

Some pieces are commisioned others I have created for the sheer pleasure it brings me in the researching and designing of them.

Many of my sculptures are inspired by nature and my love of the outdoors.

My braziers are a brilliant example of bringing the home outside - a fire to sit around with family and friends - a uniting of people, the hearth - the home.

I welcome commissions and enjoy researching and discussing ideas with the client so that each is happy and even over awed, with the finished work.

I love the wind and to walk, to taste, to talk.

I love the sea and to create, to play, to enjoy life in all it's splendid forms and hope that my passion, my feelings and my talents are reflected in all my many varied sculptures.....
